I just acquired a customer using SBT 5.0 ( compiled in vfp 5 ). Customer wants to programatically save invoices to a pdf. I have used pdfcreator in the past. It does not support vfp 5.0.
Has anybody successfully compiled SBT 5.0 in VFP 9 ? Is it just a matter of replacing the DLL's and recompiling ? ( Customer has source code )

I'd try VFP 6.0 instead of 9.0. VFP 6.0 supports Windows automation and is the version of VFP closest to 5.0, which does not support Windows automation.

If you want to email bids, orders, invoices, statements and POs from SBT with PDF attachments, look for an old copy of MessageMaster, an SBT add-on that did this using Adobe PDF Writer 4.0 (which you will also have to find). The nice thing about MessageMaster is that it fetches the recipient's email address from the customer and vendor tables in SBT automatically.

There was also PDFBlaster which worked well until the company stopped replying to emails and returning phone calls.

Why not just get a PDF writer like Cute PDF and print to that?

I need to automatically save to a specified folder a copy of the document, when printing a sales order or Invoice, without user intervention.
PDF Creator does not support VFP 5.0 configured as "CREATEEBJECT". It works in VFP 9.0
Have you tried compiling SBT 5.0 in VFP 9? I know there are LIBRARIES and EXE compiled in VFP 5. etc. IS it possible ?

I found a new solution to the automatic PDF attachment problem for SBT (and other accounting systems). This solution is much like PDFBlaster which is no longer supported as far as I can tell.

This is a printer driver with software behind it that intercepts bids, orders, invoices, POs and customer statements of account and automatically writes them to PDF and attaches them to emails with the correct email address. It also archives the PDFs and does some clever things with statements of account. It does not require modifications to the host accounting package.

It is a 'big' solution with a not-trivial installation and configuration. It is suitable for companies who send out a lot of orders, invoices and statements each month. It also works with payroll direct deposit payment receipts.

I have no financial interest in this company or this solution other than that I signed up as a reseller. Tek-Tips has rules against solicitations but, in my judgement, this reply is a direct response to an inquiry and permissible.
