Running NSLOOKUP results in this:

Default Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.0.150

>servername (query)
Server: Unknown
address:f233::3334:asdd:2d3e:teg6

***Unknown can't find (servername):No responds from server

192.168.0.150 - static IP address of SBS2008 server.
That was from the server itself. The server acts as AD, DNS and DHCP

Is this normal?
If not, what I am doing wrong and how do I fix it? :)

Thanks!

It reports unknown because when you start up nslookup it does a reverse DNS query to get the servername, and if you don't have a reverse DNS zone set up, it just displays the servername as 'unknown'.

But when it says "***Unknown can't find xxxxxx: No response from server" that's cause for concern. It means that your server is not properly responding to queries for some reason. You might try an external address, like 'mail.google.com' or something to see if it will resolve external queries, but it seems like it's not even reachable.

The server should be pointed to its own IP address in TCP/IP for DNS, you should not be configuring to server to point somewhere else for DNS resolution.

Are users in the network able to browse the internet? Can you successfully use a web browser on the server?

The server and all workstations are up and able to hit the internet. (However I have applications issues due to DNS)I've checked the reverse lookup zones and everything seems correct. When I right click and run nslookup from the DNS Manager everything is fine. When I run nslookup from the server command prompt to mail.google.com i get the following response

>nslookup mail.google.com
Server: Unknown
address:f233::3334:asdd:2d3e:teg6

***Unknown can't find mail.google.com: No responds from server

When I do IPCONFIG I get following:

ethernet adapter local area connection 2:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Link-Local IPv6 address: f233::3334:asdd:2d3e:teg6
Link-Local IPV6 address: yur3::34ss:34ds:33rr:32dd
IPv4 address: 192.168.0.150
Subnet Mask:: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Something seems to be going with IPv6 even though I don't needed?

Thank you for your feedback "ShackDaddy"
