I am currently in the process of installing SBS 08 for a client. They currently are running Server 2000 in an Active Directory environment. My question is this: is there a way to install the SBS08 into the existing environment successfully? From my understanding to install an SBS08 into an existing domain is only done by way of an answer file. But those instructions came from the SBS03 to SBS08 migration. If that is not the best solution can I then install SBS08 on the new server, create a new domain and migrate the 2000 domain users/computers/etc... over to the new domain? There is no Exchange server installed on the old server so that allieviates a little of the confusion. The SBS08 will be running Exchange soon though so I have to install it during the setup/configuration procedure.

Below are some additional links that will help you. You nead to use "adprep /domainprep /gpprep" to prepare the 2000 domain to have DC running Windows Server 2008.
Keep in mind that correct version of adprep is important, located on Windows Server 2008 media.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
