Hi all, good forum glad to see there is help out there.
I have a question on VPN for Small Business Server.
I have a small business server that has just been given a static IP address from Road Runner, the road runner modem is connected directly to the gigabyte nic that is resident in the back of the server (dell,on motherboard)there is also a second nic (linksys,10/100) this is connected to a linksys wireless router, that then links to a dell switch that connects to 3 workstations using win xp pro.
There is also 2 laptops using win xp pro.
The linksys has the DHCP disabled on it and VPN allowed.
I have made users and loaded them into the server and can log on no problem.

But can anyone answer a couple of questions for me please?
is this the best order to set the routers?
I can log Remote desktop from my frontier connection at home to the server, but when i connect using VPN it connects (i can see the 2 computer screens bottom right)but doesnt seem to do anything other than that, no folders or anything from the server(even though the users folders have a share in the server)
What I am trying to do is 1 have a VPN connection for myself so that I can allow websites or just generally look after users machines or server.
2 make a connection for my boss to use quick books away from the office ( i know the database has to be on server) she will be using her workstation in the office and her laptop when away.I have added all the user templates, remote, user , etc.
we need wireless running as well as the bosses daughter uses internet when the office (which is there house as well) is closed.
Hope I didnt just confuse everyone more!
any help would be appreciated

Many thanks
Mick

1. can you ping the VPN server by IP? also make sure VPN client's LAN and the remote LAN are using the different IP range and subnet. check this web site for VPN troubleshooting tips.

2. I would run the quick book on a office computer and do RDC over VPN.
