Hi All

If I have 20 Cals for MS SBS but have an additional 20 people who do not logon to the domain but I would like them to use the same exchange server, do I need to purchase additional cals for each one?

I hope I am making myself clear - if not please post questions so tha tI can clarify.

Many thanks

If I am not mistaken SBS CALs work for concurrent connections. Thus you can have more users than the maximum number of CALS (75). So if you have an additional 20 users that need to access Exchange via POP or OWA and they will not be staying logged in all day you should be fine.

But keep in mind that SBS is strict on access and when all CALS are used no one else can get in. So it might be best to purchase some additional CALs to save you the headache later down the road.

SBS cals are not concurrent.

The Windows Small Business Server 2003 CALs (whether per user or per device) are not by concurrent connections. They are per user or per device regardless if the user or device is currently connected or not. Moreover, SBS 2003 CALs are only available in denominations of 5 and 20.
