SBS 2011 NTS permissions issue

Hi,

Doing some work on a clients SBS box and I have something that is puzzling me

folder structure

X (root) 1 (sub) - 2 (sub)

ok all those folders have the correct groups applied to them and work for everyone apart from one person. If this person creates a sub folder say underneath folder 2 she is added directly onto the acl with no permissions, she is however a member of the group which is added onto the folder. I can't remove her from the ACL as apparently she is inheriting from further up (which she isn't)

Finally the sub folder she creates is not visible when I log directly into the SBS server...

Any ideas ??

The first question is harder to answer, there will be an inherited permission from somewhere up the chain, you just need to find it.

The second question is easier, if you don't have premissions on a file or folder, then you will not be able to see it. This was a new feature in 2008 Server.

The first answer is because the parent folder assigns the special account "Owner" special permissions to any created below it. Check it out and you will see this is the case. It means when a folder is created below by userA it adds UserA to the permissions of the folder. Also BTW they do not have NO permissions. If youexamine more closely you will in fact see a box ticked at the bottom saying "special permissions". To view these special permissions you need to click "advanced settings"

When you say the folder isn't visable to you do you mean you can't see it or can't accss it?
