OK i have set up an SBS 2008 server and am having issues sending external email the server collects emails without issue. All emails are stuck in the smarthost queue i use Zen internet whos outgoing mail is mailhost.zen.co.uk the messages will not send at all. I have noticed that the SCL of the message is showing as -1 but i can only find on microsoft site that the SCL is from 0-9 anyway the strangest thing is if i restart the server the maill sends after restart but then immediately stops sending newly submitted emails. If i restart again they are sent again etc.

Now i tested the server at the office before it went onsite and outgoing mail was fine using a different smart host but mail wont even send without a smart host just using dns so im stumped im affraid please help.

Thanks

Andy

Andy, how much free space do you have on your C: drive? The transport service requires a certain amount (more than 500mb), or the Transport service shuts off, and that might be the reason why your mail goes out if you restart the server, but not afterward.

Don't worry about the -1 SCL, that just means that it won't be evaluated as spam.
