I've just inherited an SBS 2003 server. How can I determine whether or not SP1 has been applied to it? I suspect it hasn't. If not, is the upgrade 'straightforward' or can I expect to run into problems?

Thanks

David

Right click My Computer and then properties. I would go with SP2. I installed it a few times on different machines with no issues.

Thanks for that. I'd looked there earlier, and as it made no mention of SP1, I assumed it was just running the base edition. It just says "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server".

Just install it. If it was already installed, it won't hurt anything... and if it wasn't, then it will be.

Note: for SBS, there are 4-5 service packs that should be applied... Sharepoint, SBS itself, SP1, and a couple of others I am not currently remembering.

You might be better off downloading and installing Service Pack 2 instead - but READ the instructions first - there are catches for SBS you may need to install other service packs before it.
