Hi,

I have a SBS2003 server, yesterday the following happened:

Nobody could print using the printer from the server
the network shares arn't working, including sysvol
the server can RDP to other pc and ping them, but nothing appears in network places.
Exchange etc is still working and accessable.

I have check computer browser, server service, net logon. all are on and working.

Any ideas, its causing chaos.

Regards

Sounds like the same thing I saw on a 2000 SBS server a couple years ago.

Amongst the endlist list of errors, I noticed a local MSDE engine reporting errors (I actually had 2 MSDE instances, 1 for Backup Exec, one for this other software). I dumped the software using said MSDE engine, and the problem went away.

The server was crapping out about once an hour or so. I would have to reboot to get everything back.

What errors are you seeing in the event log, around the time it happened?

Matt

Please always take the time to backup important data and verify that backup, before making any changes suggested.

Thanks for getting back Matt,

I discovered the problem was with the Server 2003 SP2 update, it had loaded on using automatic update, however it would appear that this is not deisgned for SBS 2003

regards
