I have already posted this in another section but was told to post it here.

I have installed Windows SBS 2003 & Exchange using the default configuration. I want to use the server to send/recieve e-mail for my domain name.

I have the Domain Name,Firewall Router and Static IP.

What do I need to do to make this work? I know an A record pointing to my static IP address is required but where do i create the MX record? My domain control panel only let's me use an IP address for an MX record, which i'm told is incorrrect. If this is true where do i create the MX record?

Can anybody simplify in steps exactly what i need to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your MX record would be created at the same place that your A-record was, and an MX record ALWAYS points to an A-record, so it would point at the A-record you've created.

You also want to configure your firewall to allow port 25 in to your server.

You also want to run the basic Connect to Internet wizard in SBS and specify your public domain name when it asks for it.

That's the basics.

If your DNS control panel asks for two different things: a host name and the mail server, leave the host name field blank and fill out the name of your A-record in the mail server field.
