how much of the volume is purgeable
is it all proper space
is the volume nss?
is the volume compressed?

can you restore anything

Is it a tradional volume? The file cannot be larger than 2 GB

Hi

Thanks for the prompt reply the volume is a tradional volume and it is also compressed .

It does start restoring and then when it get to some users it fails on a rar file and from then on i get the error until the end and says restore was succesful.

How do i check the volume to see what is purgable

Thanks in Advance

you dont want to neccesarily purge it but you want to see proper space - although to be truthful - it sounds more like you have a dodgey backup that has failed on crc checks
- are you restoring to same volume ?

easiest way to check map a drive to oldbangerinthecorner:\data

right click - properties - netware volume statistics - look at size of big red bit

Yes I am restoring to the same volume and its failed on 3 different tapes.

Thanks in Advance

try to restore to a different volume
i have seen this kind of problem when restoring to a volume that has a high purgeable space and hence has no real space - either clearing this or restoring to another place should solve this - it's sometimes nice to have a restore server -

have you tried just restoring a small file from tape - this would tell you if it's a problem with the actually backup rather than the restore

thanks again for yr help will try to restore again tonight .

Also ho do i Purge all Purgable space

Thanks in Advance
