I was wondering if anyone has successfully put E129s or some other basic SIP phone on IPO through the SBC as remote workers and has any stories they'd like to share about it.
I ask because we're doing an SBC for 1XM preferred access from the internet and we have a client requirement for hard-phones outside the network too.
As far as I can tell, my options are IPSEC VPN H323 9600s or find some other kind of SIP phone that can register to the IPO thru the SBC - I would think the E129 should but I haven't seen any doc to spell that out.
I guess I'm asking for the hypothetical pros and cons. More features on a 9600, but there's the VPN part vs managing a different endpoint type but thru a common point of entry on the SBC like everything else.
I'm leaning towards suggesting more basic phones thru the SBC if it satisfies the user's requirements. I'm feeling like IPSEC on H.323 is probably going to go away soon.
On that note, does anyone know if Avaya plans to support SIP on 96x1 on IPO in release 10 and line up with the enterprise offering?
