SBCE Non Avaya SIP phones

Hi,

I wanted to try and get a Yealink phone working through the SBCE to my IPO. I have looked in Monitor to see what user-agent it sends so I can add it to the User-Agent group.

However, the phone won't register.

I have been told that it does support 3rd party SIP phones. I know I am doing something wrong.

Does anyone have any pointers?

What do you see when it tries to register? The SBCE does not handle the register, it just forwards the regisater to IPO. However, there are some rules before the SBCE considers a user to be regsitered. The most important thing is that the 200OK has the proper Contact header. If that’s the wrong format, the IPO will register the user but you can’t call it. The SBCE will ‘complain' that you're trying to reach an unregisterd user. In that case, use a sigma script to fix it.

I get 403 forbidden on the phone. I don't see it hit the IPO at all so I guess the SBCE is blocking it.

Apart from User-Agent and URI what else will the SBCE look at?

Can you tracesbc on the sbce? That should give some hints

I will have a look at tracesbc.

My problem at the minute is that the SBCE keeps randomly restarting when I load menus or save something!

So I am a little nervous to fiddle with it until after hours.

Is there a rule of thumb for 3rd party SIP phones?

Ok, better fix that first! If you use 3rd party (or self signed certs) that can cause restarts. Look at the version and install patches if any. Or rebuild thee sbce. restarting is not what you want.

There is not really a rule of thumb. A lot of phones work, some don’t.

yeah I am using both self-signed and 3rd party!

I think I will rebuild!
