A customer had SBC ADSL; using a linksys router. everything worked fine. switched to SDSL. SBC assures us we don't need any new hardware. Somehow SBC SDSL uses PPPoE and static addresses at the same time. I'm not sure how, but let it suffice to say that the WAN interface is still set to PPPoE.

With the linksys hooked into the DSL Modem now, the ethernet and internet lights on the modem alternate on and off. with a pc hooked straight into the DSL Modem, all lights are solid and everything works. When the linksys is hooked up, it shows Connected on the status page and has an IP address, but i cannot browse the internet.

Have you tried using the reset button on the router and setting everything back up? I beleive there is a setting to define a static IP address.
