hi, im new here and fairly 'puter illiterate so please bear with me....

2 days ago i received my HP PAVILION 7905 with :
- athlon xp 1900
- 512 ddr
- sb live! (wdm) [ i dunno what wdm is or if you need to know it, but there it is]
- gf 3 ti 200 tv out

my soundcard sb live was not working right. then i updated it and it improved greatly! now the only problem is with my headphones. they do not have any balance. and when i test the
sound at the sb live hq program, i click "test" to test the headphones and there is no balance, i mean the sound comes out of both sides : left and right. the test says "left" and "right"
but those sounds come out of both sides of headphones and i checked and rechecked the balance and settings and its in the middle but still it doesnt discern between left and right. i
need this to work asap...please help!!!....tx alot in advance, and if i forgot to include something above, please lemme know

Sounds like you have a few driver conflicts with this system.
I read your earlier post about the system taking so long to open programs, XP has lots of driver issues and can be easily upset by use of unaproved drivers and software.
sorry this isn't much help but you need to get the system stable before addressing other issues. Martin

good point, i will keep trying. thanx papa. any1 else have an idea...please keep them comin :)

Not familiar with the actual software you're using, but here's a few things to check.

1. Check the headphones with another system to make sure they're wired correctly - maybe they're wired as mono?

2. Some headphones actually have a small mono/stereo switch on them - check it out.

3. Check that nothing is ticked anywhere as "Mono" in the software setup.

4. Do you get the same with speakers plugged in?

5. Try playing a CD that you know has good stereo qualities. Is the sound that you're getting in mono?

Good luck!
