hi

I have a pc running Win2000 with an old soundblaster awe32 sound card, my problem is that in device manager, I have two entries for Standard gameport and for one of them I get this in properties :
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Click Troubleshooter to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Location : on VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)
I can't get my joystick to work.

any ideas ?

thanks

Paul

This sounds like you have an onboard soundcard or other soundcard driver installed, check your BIOS and look for any onboard sound, VIA AC'97 is an onboard soundcard that uses a VIA chip for sound.

Disable the onboard soundcard and see if that cures the problem.

your suggestion worked for me. I disabled the Game Port in the Bios and now I only have one gameport in device manager.
