We are running AutoCAD 2005 and Pro Engineer Wildfire on our Windows XP Pro machines. All data files are stored on a SNAP Server 1100 across our network. On 3 separate occasions 3 separate users were working as usually and somehow 1,000's of savXXXX.tmp files were created in their working directory. The XXXX were HEX characters counting upward. This caused the server to lock up and force a reboot. These servers are vital for our business and we can't have this keep happening. I've deleted all the tmp files that were created but not sure how to stop this from happening again. Any help is appreciated.

Two guesses come to mind:

l. Are they burning CDs?
2. Malware. See my notes on Bube: thread760-1032203

Not a lot of information I'm afraid. Do these files have to be saved on the server, can they be saved locally and cleaned out regularly by way of some scheduled script or CAD program function?

FATAL ERROR: Temp files full or read only

Thanks everyone for the replies. The autodesk discussion is the exact answer I was looking for. I am going to contact SNAP and tell them about the situation, and for now I will transfer those working files onto a windows machine to see if the problem occurs again. Once again thank you, this was a problem I just couldn't figure out on my own.
