saving variables to a text file

I am trying to create an interface that allows users to set a number of variables, which will be loaded the next time they come into the movie.

Is it possible to read and write variables to a text file other than that used for dynamic text?

I need to be able to store something along these lines:

position1 = frame1
position2 = frame7
position3 = frame10

etc etc --> about position 50.

does anyone have any ideas.

You'll need to use server side scripting (ASP-CGI-PHP...) to be able to write your variables to a text file. Or you may get away with the use of cookies. Both you can't save anything from just Flash! Regards,
