I have a folder on my Server 2003 with 60K + pdf files. 2 windows xp pro SP2 PC's have to refresh all 60K + files before you are able to save into this folder. With the other PC's that are on the network ..they only have to put the file name in and click save ...they don't have to wait for all the files to refresh. Anyone see this before?

Using "Safe Mode with Networking" from one of the problem XP's, do you see the same behavior?

Are there any clues in the Event Viewer?

Is this a scanning action by any security type programs?

Have a look at these threads that show a few suggestions of the things tried by other members.

See if you can get any clues here from these semi-related articles about refreshing in Explorer..

You can experiment with this (after backing up Registry).

You can make Windows Explorer constantly refresh and update its files and folder views. Go through the Registry through RegEdit, and navigate through the left-hand pane until you get to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/
CurrentControlSet/control/Update item. In the right-hand pane, click on UpdateMode and select Modify. In the Edit window, change 01 to 00. Exit everything and reboot for this to take effect.

You could also look at your Video driver and see if there is an update available.
