Saving to Favorites very slow

I have IE8 running on XPpro.

When I click on Favorites, then click on add to favorites, it takes about 30 seconds or so before I get the pop up box that allows me to add to favorites.

It has been happening a while, so not sure exactly when it started. I think it may have been since I upgraded from IE7 to IE8. Is it a security check of the website or something that I can disable or something else?
