saving to earlier versions. HELP!

I am trying to use the epsf importer in Lightwave 8. However, it wont recognise Adobe Illustrator CS files. How can I save the file as an earlier .ai version in Illustrator CS?

I have the CS2 but I think it is the same way. Just do a "save as" an you will have the choice to save it at the version you want in the second step of saving. When you clic on save, a window appear and the first thing you are able to change is the version.

In CS, File>Export, then from the file type dropdown list choose Illustrator Legacy, and in the next dialog choose your version...
