Saving the grid index

I have page1 that has a datagrid on it. When I pick a record and choose to edit it, page 2 comes up. Here I edit the record and return to page1.

How do I make the datagrid go back to where it was when I left the page?

Why is this so hard? Applications are much easer then web apps.
