Hi - I just brought a logo into photoshop cs from illustrator to save it as a tiff for someone who doesn't have adobe. Once the file was placed in photoshop, the colors had changed and I did a replace color on some of the fields. When I saved it as a tiff, the colors changed again. Saving them as a JPEG instead left the colors, but I was hoping to save the file w/o the compression. Is it normal for colors to change that way, and is there any way around it. I was in CMYK, by the way.

Thanks!

Yes, you will get a color shift from AI cs to PS cs. Why not save to tiff right out of AI?.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

tried exporting to TIFF - color changes upon export.....

running windows XP, CS

wonder why it would happen for a tiff, but not a JPEG?

You should not get the change on the tiff export from AI. Check your swatches to make sure they're all cmyk, not rgb.

Also, your colour management settings should be synchronized across all your apps. Not going to get good results saving a file in Illustrator with the default colour management settings then importing it into photoshop with a completely different setting.

You can use bridge now to sync your profiles across the creative suite apps

Bridge - Edit>Creative Suite Colour Settings...

Also remaining in the same colour space too and you should be fine. I pass stuff all around Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Quark and my colours stay consistent across the board.

Dropkick Murphy: In CS, don't know about CS2, there are shifts. Indesign and Illustrator are the same but photoshop has a shift. It becomes most evident when you use a pantone in PS and then bring the PS into AI or INDD and notice that the Pantone selected in PS does not match the same number selected in AI or INDD. The values are different.

I mention that because the questioner said he was using CS versions.

The shift your talking about there is because AICS1 pantone swatches are cmyk and PSCS1 are in Lab mode, unless you use Solid to Process in PS then you will get the same values.

That wouldnt effect exporting a vector file to Raster though. The CMYK conversion of a AI Pantone will sill be the same CMYK value in Photoshop.
