I am using Flash 8 Pro and have been having problems with saving my files periodically. I have been working on a project now for 2 weeks and have noticed my file getting larger than it should be. (43Mb)Just out of curiousity I resaved my file as another name and noticed the size dropped down to 16Kb. I then reopened it and noticed it jumped up to 715Kb and this is where it has stayed as I am adding ActionScript. Has anyone had this happen? I have run a full system scan thinking it might be a bug but there is nothing on my computer. I was also thinking that maybe I have a corrupt download of the program. Any suggestions?

When you edit a FLA, the changes you made are appended to the existing file. This enables Flash to save the FLA faster, but obviously the file size gets bigger and bigger as you edit and save over time.

You can either do File > Save and Compact, or File > Save As... to deflate the FLA. (If you choose to do Save As..., you MUST give the FLA new name. Otherwise it's the same as doing normal Save and the file size will remain the same.)
