We are Using Impromptu 7.0 Build 809.0
Windows 2000 Professional
Excel 2002 SP-2

This situation occurs randomly. Without any symptoms our users will save the IMR to Excel W/Format. No errors are reported during the save process. When the user tries to open the excel file an error message is returned. "File is read only or file is located in an inaccessible location." I have had them save the excel file to their local drive and a networked drive with no success. It appears to be isolated to the data that is making up the report because in all instances the user can run the same report using different parameters and the report will save fine and the excel file will open fine.

Has anyone come across this situation, if so what did you need to do to fix this problem.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,
AHF

AHF,
From the Cognos KB
"This error will occur with reports with long column names when exporting from Impromptu. To resolve this error, pick the long title, and change the LAYOUT to be "Multi-Line with word Wrap"."

Hey guys,

I am having a similar problem. We are using Cognos IWR (impromptu web reports) to export to excel. After the report runs fine to a pdf but as soon as we click the "View as Excel" button we get an error in the A1 cell. The error says "<B>An internal error has occurred.<BR>Please contact your report administrator.</B><BR>You are not authorized to access this report." This is a windows 2K SP3 machine, with office 2K stnd SR-1, with IE6.

Thanks in advance
