Saving GoldMine Documents

I am using GoldMine 5.5 and Word 97. I have installed the correct version of the GMlink.dot, but whenever I try to save a GM linked document I get a SaveDoc Error 5152 - this is not a valid filename. I have rights to save documents anywhere on our server and can copy a saved document into the directory that is giving me this error. I'm not really sure if this is a Word issue, but it seems more likely to be related to GoldMine as I've never experienced the problem before.
