saving flash banners as gifs - simple solution?

i'm having a problem when i try and export a flash fla as a gif banner. all of the images used in the banner have been saved for web as gifs, however, its only the text that is giving me the problem. when i export the fla as a gif banner, all the text appears as oddly shaped white boxes. the animations are still in tact, but you can't read any of the text.

there must be a simple solution to my problem, right?

are you using static or dynamic text?
if your using static text and this is still happening try breaking the text apart twice so it becomes a drawing(ctrl+b)
