My company is inacting a 90 day retention policy on our emails stored in Groupwise. We have multiple users who have emails they need to keep from the past several years. My I.S. department has turned off the archiving feature. We are not allowed to use any form of outlook as our email client. Is there a way to save the email to the harddrive so the file can not be deleted.

The only way I know how to do this is...

Open the e-mail message.
Choose "File|Save As" and choose "Save to disk"

This will save the file as a MLM file. MLM files are a WordPerfect 5.0/6.0 file so if you have word you will need the necessary conversion utilities installed. Fortunately we use both Word and Wordperfect in our office so saving files out as an MLM works fine for all our projects.

*end users are just like computers, some you can work with...others just need a simple reBOOTing to fix their problems.*

You can also download a third party software called Nexic Personal Publisher (they work with Novell) and then using that utility, burn the emails onto a cd. This software changes the format to HTML and you can open them from anywhere if you want. This software is really good but is a trial ware. I think good for 30 days. Then you have to download it again but the email you burned on the cd is good forever. I think it's worth purchasing if you company has archiving turned off.

Hope this helps. Janis Tomasone
