Saving CS3 Ai to PSD

Hello!

I am having problems saving my Ai file to a layered PSD. I export to PSD and then open it in Photoshop and some of my Ai layers are there perfectly... but some of them are combined together in ways that don't make sense. For example layer 8,24,16,5,73 are on one PSD layer (not in a group, just flattened) In Ai they were all on separate layers. Any suggestions?

...without seeing the file in question difficult to problem solve, can you post a screen shot sowing the image and the layers palette involved?
