I've made some config changes on a couple of Avaya devices, but I'm not finding a commmand to save the configs (to survive a reboot). I'm looking for a command that is equivalent to a "copy run start" (Cisco) for the following hardware...

First, I have a G700 that needs its config saved. On our G430's, "copy run start" is the answer... but apparently not on a G700.

Secondly, I have a Cajun P330 that needs its config saved. This is the only Cajun switch I have, so I don't have any success stories... just need to save the config.

Please help!

You can copy the configs to an external FTP or TFTP server, and you could restore them the same way. on the G700, checkout "copy mgp-config tftp", or "copy mgp-config ftp" (copys the running MFP config to a tftp or ftp server, for backup).

for the P330 switch, checkout: "copy stack-config tftp" (copies the P330 stack configuration to a tftp server for backup)

FYI, you must type "configure" on each of these, for these copy commands to be enabled.

FYI, these is no equivilant to the "copy running-config startup-config" as there is in the G350/G430/G450 for the G700, the commands I gave you above are just so you can make a backup to an external device of your configuations, there is no other way to "save" it.

Mitch- Are you saying I can expect my changes on the G700 and P330 to survive a reboot without entering a command to copy the "running config" to a "startup config"?

If so, why the difference from flavor to flavor?

Was the "copy run start" command an after-thought and only added when the newer models were introduced?

Thanks!

Yes, changes are saved, there is no special command to save them on the G700/P330.

The G700 is very old technology (already End Of Lifed as well), AVAYA's very first media gatewway. All of the newer models, the G250/G350/G430/G450 use the new way of "copy running-config startup-config" mehtod to make changes to the startup permanent, it was not needed on the original G700.

Also, you will notice the G700 uses up to 3 IP address's (Stack Processor, MGP and VOIP), while the newer gateways use a single IP address (the "PMI" or "Primary Management Interface"), that is also a change for the better as well.
