Hello:

I have a user who is being asked to save Book1.xls when he tries to copy and paste an Excel object in Word. He opens up an file, by going to File --> Open --> select the file that he wants.

In this file, he selects a number of cells and copy them. Opens Word, then go to Edit --> Paste. At this point, he gets a dialog box that asks him to save Book1.xls. My question is, where is this book1.xls coming from?

We did Detect and Repair but the same thing is still happening. I am not sure if reinstalling will fix the problem either.

Any ideas?

mosmas,
Search for your excel startup folder ie. XLSTART,
check to see if there are any other xls files in there besides your personal.xls

Whether you delete them or move them is your decision

Or maybe you have a macro that's creating a new workbook.
