Its a permission thing on the server
They only have read only permissions

I agree with Doug. This is a network issue. Could be a specific virus program installed on the network, or network permissions.
Go to technet and choose Excel and type "cannot save"

I've checked the permissions and everyone has full control..the only thing i did find was that it was set to "File is ready for archiving" in Advanced attributes. I've unchecked this option but would this have had anything to do with it?
