More and more users in our office are getting the following message when trying to save a Word document: "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (L:\Client...whatever.doc)" When you click the OK buton, another window pops up and says "Do you want to retry the save? Yes/No." It doesn't matter if you click yes or no...once you click yes or no, it will save the doc as a .tmp file (and it's not a temp file that comes when you just have a file open, it actually creates a Word document with a .tmp extension). At first I thought it might have something to do with the network/server, but I tried saving the docs onto a few of the user's hard drives and I still get the same messages. Everyone has Windows XP Pro, Office 2000 Pro with all the updates, Novell Client 4.91 SP2 and SP4. I have tried updating the users who had Novell Client 4.91 SP2 to SP4, but we still get the messages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I've tried everything suggested on Microsoft's and Novell's website concerning this....nothing worked.

Hi cndavis34,

As you've already noted,
Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error
That means it's not a Word problem but a system problem. There are many possibilities here but, since it seems to be happenign to 'More and more users', it sounds like your users may be running out of disk quota.

Cheers
