We own a Savin 4027 copier printer fax scanner. The original hard drive failed, and our local service facility wanted $1100 to install a replacement. $100 later, we bought and installed the drive. Able to use the initialization sw from the Savin disc to format it. But we have an unusual error message:

Updating the destination list has failed. Try again.

and a helpful flashing message: Try updating it in the Scanner Features.

When we select the Scanner Features and press the 'update' button, it fails with a message stating such.

Any ideas on what exactly this might mean to make the flashing message go away? Yes, I'm reading the manual, but thought I'd toss this out.

If the machine had software to install on the Mac, you might try trashing the old and reinstalling so that the software will look for that new drive.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

1) I had no idea a Savin copier used Macntosh hardware.
2) On my Xerox copiers, I make a list of users and the destinations of their scans on a computer, then import it to the copier via an update button. On a Xerox, this is called the template, and I need to tell the copier the IP address and path to the template. Some Xerox copiers let you create the template right on the copier.

So if I press Sam on the scanner, the pdf goes to //192.168.1.5/ftproot/sam and if I press Tom the pdf goes to //192.168.1.5/ftproot/tom

This info is saved in the template.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Neither did I. I guess Apple pops up in strange places!
