Hi!

we just upgrade our networker to 6.2 build 109
before we got 6.1.1 build 238

i use savepnpc for my database Oracle to put my database in beginbackup and endbackup

since we upgrade to 6.2 build 109 i receive the following error:

"preclntsae: the tmp file exists, another savepnpc may be running"

i stop the services: remote exec and power monitor
1. rename the nsr/tmp to nsr/oldtmp
2.restart the services
3.and start my group..

i receive always the same message

there is another way to correct this problem

my clients is: Win2K AS

regard,

savepnpc does not work as described in the manual in networker 6.2.
Do you have more than one saveset defined in your client?
If so, try to create a new group with your client which backups only your oracle folder.

There is a patch available from legato which solves this issue.

6.2 is one buggy piece of software. I use it now and have quite a few issues with it.

Good Luck!

There are a number of bugs regarding savepnpc.

6.1.3 bug fix lists LGTpa42288. I know of a couple more.

I suggest you open a support ticket so that you can get the appropriate patch.

Upgrading from 6.2 to 6.1.3 is difficult because the /nsr/res directory structure changed from 6.1.x to 6.2. If you canot go to 6.1.3, you may need to get the patches or wait for 6.2.1 if and when that version comes out.

that's the way we are looking for

downgrade to 6.1.3

As I said, going from 6.2 to 6.1.3 is difficult. You cannot just uninstal and the instal because the /nsr/res is totally different.

If you really want to go to 6.1.3, you will either:

1) install 6.1.3, then recover a nsr.res from backups when your server was running NetWorker before 6.2

2) install 6.1.3, and then *manually* configure NetWorker from scratch.

thanx wallace88

we were able to downgrade to 6.1.3 and my script for savepnpc work very well

:)
