Hi
Im right now running into problems with Legato Networker.

Server: W2k Server with AD installed, Legato Networker 6.1.3 Server + Client installed, 1 DLT Jukebox.

Client: Fileserver, W2K Member Server, Legato 6.1.3 Client installed.

Whenever i back up this server in an automatic schedule, one Save Set will time out.
Save Sets C:, F:, System State, System DB, System Files get backed up with no problems.
Save Set D:\ Will save for a while and then stop getting data, thus timing out.
Whenever this happens, i cannot back up this client again before i reboot it.
I also cannot log on to the console or to a terminal Session on this client before a reboot.

I tested a Manual Backup of Drive D: via Networker User, no problems there.
Rpcinfo looks ok, too.
I dont think Naming is a problem, cause all other Savesets get Backed up OK.

Had the same Problem with Version 6.1.2 but updating to 6.1.3 did not solve this problem.

Im out of my wits right now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be a permissions access issue on the d: drive?
Any special ACL's?

Troubleshoot by changing the saveset to just d:\, then running the following tests on the backup server:

savegrp -vvvv -c <client> <Groupname>

savegrp -D9 -c <client> <Groupname>

I do not think tis is a permission issue.

Like i said, a manual Backup with networker user ran just fine.
A scheduled backup via batch-script on the client ran fine, too. (save with parameters)

The processes on the client (nsrexecd and save) hang.
Tried to kill them via wrkill, but they cannot be ended (permission denied).
Furthermore, on the server you cannot start or stop any processes, you even cannot log on.
The system does not react to Ctr+Alt+Del anymore.

You have to switch off the System.

Access to shares works fine, though.

Any more Ideas?

Stephan

Stephan,
If this client is a Compaq and has a Gbit card you may have a driver problem.
Assuming the above is true search the forum for fixes:
1. a change in the registry
2. a new driver version
Hope this helps,
Itzik

What Win service pack do you have installed?

In sp2 is an error in the getlocaldrive function.
