When i click on a download it opens immediately. The save button in the file menu is greyed out.
Right click and save target works ok.
Content advisor is not enabled.
Have set the registry to always put downloads in a specific directory and it has quit working.
Verified .exe does not exist in registry.
Reset to defaults on IE and went to file types and made sure confirm open after download is checked.
I would have assumed it was the beta SP2 installed on XP but a friend is having the same issue and they do not have it installed.

Has anyone run into this before or is it one of the new patches put out that disables it?

If you clear the Always ask before opening this type of file check box, you indicate that this type of file should always be opened with the associated program. The file is then downloaded to your Temporary Internet Files folder and opened.

If the Always ask before opening this type of file check box is unavailable, there is no program associated with the file type. For example, if you download a file with a .zip extension, the check box is unavailable unless you have installed a program that can open .zip files.

But see:

I reset to defaults and that key is not listed in the registry. I had gone into the file types and checked those options as well.
Tonight i turned the pc back on and it started working again. I did so many different things that i just dont know which one was the one that worked.
