Is there a difference between these two features in the different versions of word (i.e. Office 2000 vs. Office XP). We had someone loose a word doc because someone logged them off with out saving the document.

So does Save Auto Recover only work when there is a power outage? Will it continue to auto save your document like Word did in office 2000? I have other techs I work with that think they are two different features.

Thanks

They are the same tools. Tools | Options | Save tab | Save AutoRecover Info every __ minutes...

Explanation: Although both features saved the document at intervals you specified, the XP option automatically makes a document recovery file at the interval you enter in the Minutes box (enter a number from 1 to 120).

Here's the bonus: If your computer hangs (stops responding) or you lose power unexpectedly, Word opens the AutoRecover file the next time you start Word. The AutoRecover file may contain unsaved information that would otherwise be lost from your original document. If your original document was damaged, you may be able to recover information from the AutoRecover file.

IMPORTANT: AutoRecover does not replace the Save command. You must still save your document when you finish working on it. My suggestion is that you save your document initially with a docname and doclocation.
