Save As...Slow Response

It all started when I noticed my computer getting a little sluggish. I ran Anti-virus, Anti-Spam, disk cleanup, and defrag.

This seemed to fix my sluggish issue, but now my 'Save As...' dialog box, takes about 20-30 seconds to open. It only happens the first time I attempt to 'Save As'. I thought I would see the same issue when opening Windows Explorer, but there is no lag time, it opens almost instantaneously.

I have checked the internet for fixes, but everything I read has the problem connected with Windows Explorer (as in the problem also occurs in Explorer), and this is not the case. I was wondering if someone else has seen this before and had any suggestions.

Thanks.

I have seen this before, and for me, it was because of a disconnected mapped drive. See if all your mapped drives are okay.

This can also happen if you have a lot of mapped drives. The more you have, the slower it is to establish a connection to all of them.

Thank you for the replies. I checked the mapped drives, and they are all connected (there are three). Also, I have had this computer for about a year, and have not changed anything recently.

Since last I posted I ran a registry cleaner, but no luck there either.

If I find anything I will post an update.

Thanks again

You should unmap each drive, one at a time until you find which one is slowing down your save-as process.

Good luck,

This thread also tends to support the mapped drive theory.
