Hi, Im (very) new to cgi, at the moment Im creating a site, and on it there are some pdf's available to download. Thing is, that if you have the plug in which most people do, when you click on the link for the pdf it automaticly opens it in an IE window. Is there anyway around this with some scripting? Or would it be Java that I have to use?????
thanks for your time... Jay~

KeyTech,

You're sayng you want people to save your downloads before opening them? Well, that's really a client choice, but one quick way is to provide them in .ZIP Files, not as raw .PDF files.

It may be possible to do this in Javascript or Java, however, you can't count on the browser having either enabled.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, I already thought of zip files but that means that they have to have winzip as well as Adobe....I know zip is very standard these days, but if it annoys one person, then it wasn't worth it.

Ah well!! Guess I'll just have to add in the 'to save this document, right click and....' text next to the downloads!!!

thanks again. Jay~
