Towards the end of last year XPSP3 users reported they could not save Word (and possibly other Office) documents as PDF or XPS files.
It turned out that Microsoft had released a security update to fix one thing but broke this ability. There was a workaround to fix it while they were working on a permanent fix. My reading of is that they have a permanent fix but users still can't save as PDF/XPS. Am I reading the KB wrong?
In Add/Remove Programs it lists KB2639417 as having been installed. But I still need to run the 'disable' workaround to be able to save as PDF/XPS. Is this therefore removing a security patch and leaving XP open? If so, then Microsoft still have work to do to both fix the security hole but still allow saving as PDF/XPS. If not, then why, if KB2639417 is installed, can users not save unless the 'disable' workaround is run?
Has anyone run in to this and found a good solution?
