How do you get Excel 2007 not to default to my document folder when I want to Save As a document. I need to save a lot of documents from our server to another computer and each time I go to save as, I have to select where I need it to be saved instead of excel remembering where I just was. I know outlook 2007 does remember. please help - I have a lot of documents to save and this is taking a long time.

In Excel 2007 when you click on the 'start button' thingy (top left), choose Excel Options at the bottom of the menu. In that menu click the Save Option and you can set what type and where files are saved. If this doesn't help let me know.

I did what you suggested and put the default file location for the folder I want it to default to and said OK at the bottom but when I try to "save as" it still puts me back in My Docs folder. When I open the excel options - it shows that it saved it correctly but it isn't working. I even closed all the docs and excel and reopened and it still isn't defaulting correctly.

I am seeing that if it is a brand new doc it defaults the "save as" to the location I want but if it is a doc that comes through in an email as an attachment or has been saved in an outlook file - those won't default. Oh well - thanks for your help.

Actually I have been playing around with the Save As box and the My Places bar is a place where I can add the folder I want. It still defaults to my docs but now it is simple extra click where as before it was a lot of clicks.

To 'permanantly' change the default saving location, click the Office button, Excel Options buttion, Save, then set the default file location to whatever path you need.
