Save a Table design to reflect Sorted field

a friend has asked if there is a way to save a table so that it's sorted by last name....she says that it won't 'save' the design if she presses the the Sort button on the toolbar and then saves the table...Is there a way she can save the table so that it always comes up sorted?

Simply create a query based on that table with the proper order by clause.
