Does anyone know if its possible to blindly change the scheduled updates settings for SAV Corporate 8.1? I need to change the settins for users and I am trying to find a way where the user has to do the least amount of work as possible - as always.

Just an added piece of info. This is an unmanaged install.

You should be able to do this from the System Center Console:

Right-click on the primary server and go to All Tasks --> Symantec Antivirus --> Virus Definition Manager.

In the bottom half of this control screen you can set the schedule for when clients get automatic updates.

You can select "Do not allow client to modify LiveUpdate schedule" if you don't want users to fiddle with your set schedule.

Packdragon... thanks, that will work on the managed portion, but this is on an unmanaged configuration.

I actually found how to do this just in case anyone else is curious... there is a tool on the SAV CD under tools, nosupport called configed.exe This will allow you to configure the grc.dat which holds the configuration for the client install.

After you configure the grc.dat, if you are using XP you need to dump it under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5

After you dump the file to the directory, it will dissappear once accessed. But don't worry, this actually works!!
