Hi
my Company is divided in several locations

should every location get there own server group?
or just one group fpr all?
distance between the locations is nearly 25 miles
and the clients should get their update from the server that is installed for each location
(at this time, there´s just one server, i´m planning to realise the other ones this week)

when i´m planning for every location one server group
How can the server get a virus update??
is it possible to update one (primary) server in a group and the other groups get their update from this one??

thanks

sorry for my english

ok
i´ve done it:
i choose for every location a different server group
by now, every primary server has to take the updates for his group throug the internet

but i don´t want every server (there´s just one for each server-group) being connected to the i-net retrieving new definitions

thats why i want to install on one server the live update admin tool, this server should update the server in the other groups

has anyone tried that tool, does it work??
is there a problem if one server is nav ce primary server and liveupdate server simultaneous

sorry for my english

You need to configure each primary server to get its updates from the server that you want to be updated from the internet. This configuration must be done to each primary computer. Right click the server select All task > Symantec Anti-Virus >Virus definition manager > select configure Here is where you will set up what server to the primary server get there updates.
Here is a link to a document that will help too.

Hi
thank you
but these are the things i know
i´m running the ce since 01/04
1 server (auto update check every day, every 4 hours)
200 Clients (it will be 2000 next month)

the update is running automatic

but in the other location is a new server in a new servergroup(because the clients should retrieve their definitions from the server that´s standing there)
but i just want 1 server beeing connected to the www
i think, that the solution for this problem will be
installing a internal liveupdate server, this one updates all (primary)server in every group (it will be 6 groups at least)
did anyone try that tool??
