FYI- have opened a ticket with Symantec-

Installed the new SAV 8.0 All went well. Win NT 4.0 SP 6a on all the servers. Later, the PDC started acting up and we could not open the User Manager due to “Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service”. There was plenty of HD space, plenty of page file, and plenty of RAM. Rebooted the PDC and all was well again. This morning had the same problem.

Upgrading to SAV 8.0 had been the only change. Uninstalled SAV 8.0 and the problem instantly went away and we were able to get into User Manager. The primary server for SAV 8.0 is a BDC; it is working well. The other two servers are working well. Most, not all of the clients took the upgrade fantastic. There are just a few that require attention. That’s the same as the original install which was NAV 7.5.

So, what in SAV 8.0 caused the PDC to use all the system resources???? Don't know yet. But will post when I get the answer. I have a couple of ideas, but will let Symantec earn their keep :D

update.

had to uninstall SAV 8.0 off another server. It was interferring with folder and file level permissions getting “Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service”.

also the AMS and client e-mail notifications are not working.

According to Symantec, SAV 8.0 is NOT a required update. if I were you, I'd skip it until they fix the bugs.

On the two servers that had problems I went back to NCAV 7.6. All is well.

stay tuned!! I'm sure more info will follow.

Thanks,

I contacted customer service at Symantec and they supposedly haven't even shipped out the version to the upgrade insurance clients. They told me it would be another 4 to 6 weeks before that would happen.

Luckily I know they will support 7.6 for a while, and I won't have to worry about it for about a year, if that. J.R. Juiliano

I guess that Customer Service rep didn't have the correct information. I received SAV 8.0 on Tuesday, October 15th. I have the upgrade insurance plan under a "Gold" contract.

Another bug has shown up. I have set the clients to e-mail me should they get a virus. no go, they aren't sending.

Got mine on the 15th as well. I'm noticing a few bugs here and there. A couple with the logon script as well. Haven't opened up any tickets though.

reset the client notifications and all is well with that little hic-up

the saga continues :D
