SAV 8.0 administrative scan locks up pc??

We installed SAV 8.0 and one guy is telling me that when the administrative scan starts, he ends up having to shut his pc down. He runs Autocad 2000 ( full version ) and lotus notes most of the time. He claims nothing is running when the admin scan comes on. He says he has to totally shut his pc down because it does not respond once the scan starts. It comes on during lunch once a week and when he comes back, it's still going. I know it hasn't completed yet though.

Any suggestions? I'm scanning symantec's website now too...

Check the scheduled scan's priority.

From the symantec MMC, open the scheduled scan, select scan settings, options, then look in the section on "throttling options." Make sure you're not letting the scan hog the CPU.

Thanks, I'll look at it. I know that the scan really takes up a lot of rescources! Really this is the first person that has reported this message. I know this one person machine runs at low rescources since he has some memory hungry programs like autocad 2k and mechanical desktop and on top of that, it's windows 98. There is a problem there. His machine is win98, 512 ram, 64mb video card, 933 mhz, P3.
