Hello all, I'm having problems with a SATA to IDE dongle I purchased. I have a SATA hard drive, which was my main drive on my SATA computer, but that computer has crashed. It reported an error with windows after I tried to partition a drive, and on the restart, Windows wouldn't start.

So now I'm trying to save my files from that drive. I purchased a Syba SATA to IDE dongle, and thought it would be the answers to my problems. I have two hard drives already on my old computer which is IDE. I tried everything. I tried removing the jumper from my SATA drive, moving the jumper around, disconnecting my main hard drive on the IDE computer, looking in the BIOS to see if it recognizes the drive, and it doesn't.

If I take the jumper out, the computer loads as usual, but I dont have access to the drive. The dongle is connected through a Rosewill ULTR ATA/133 PCI CARD. The computer recognizes the card, but not the drive.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the drive is working OK? One thing you could do is to stick the drive back in the machine that you took it out of & use a Live Linux CD to boot the machine & see if you can gain access to your files. One live CD I like to use is Puppy Linux. This is a small download (80mb) & works well.
I know this will not sort out the other problem, but if the drive is working you will be able to get your files back.
