In reference to thread thread751-1089279 I had a while back, I finally discovered that the problem was caused by a SCSI PCI card that I had installed. As soon as this was removed, all worked as it should. Now, is there any reason why an integrated Promise SATA cannot co-exist with a PCI SCSI card? If so, is there any way around, or if there isn't, can anyone suggest a reason for the problem? The SCSI card is used for a DAT drive, and for the majority of the time is not used, but I would like to reinstate it if possible....

Many add on cards are preset to be used as a boot device.

Check your card docs for the settings that can be controlled and insure that it is not registering as LUN "0" or boot device.

While SATA's are not specifically SCSI, they have attributes similar.

Your promise should register as first and pci as second.
