Hello,
I have recently been tasked with the building a PC for the son of a vice-president and everything was initially going well until I went to install Windows. The motherboard is an ASUS A8V Deluxe and the hard drive in question is a Western Digital 80GB SATA drive. I found the 'makedisk' utility on the motherboard system CD, made the floppy with all the drivers, hit F6 at the start of the Windows install and loaded the appropriate driver. Windows then proceeds to tell me that it still cannot locate any hard disks.....any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Thank you

Has the disk been set up in the SATA part of the bios? (I'm using an Asus A7N8x - and you need to press Ctrl+S or F4 at the appropriate point to set up the SATA drive.

If it has, can you access it from a win98 boot floppy - fdisk (should be able to I think)?

Also - have you been to Asus site to see if updated SATA driver for that board?
